Honda india getting increase capacity of its assambly

Honda Cars India is set to establish a new assembly line at its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan. The first car will roll out of the facility with an annual production capacity of 120,000 units in the first half of 2014. The carmaker is also setting up afully integrated diesel parts and engine assembly unit with capacity for 163,000 units per annum. A forgings unit, with annual capacity of 10 lakh units, is also to be set up.
The total investment in the expansion project including operations at Greater Noida is pegged at Rs 6,700 crore.
Honda has already started exporting some of the diesel engine parts to the UK.
On the model front, the company says it plans to roll out five new models in the next three years, the first of which will be the new Amaze. The new compact saloon will be powered by the new 1.5-litre diesel engine which will also be plonked in several of the upcoming models as well as in facelifted variants of existing Honda cars. A company official said the April 11 launch of the Amaze will be followed by the introduction of another new saloon here.
The company's senior management has also seen a change, with Yoshiyuki Matsumoto, vice-president of Asian Honda Motor, being appointed president and CEO of Honda Motor India. He will be in charge of product development, purchasing and manufacturing operations in Asia and Oceania.

M&M:ready to launch electrick car

Following the launch of the e2o electric car, Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to launch the electric version of its entry-level saloon, the Verito, within a year.
It will be powered by Reva’s electric powertrain, and will produce 29 kW (38.9bhp).
The battery pack will around take six hours for a full charge, which will give a claimed range of 100km. A quick charge can also be done in a little over an hour. M&M is investing about Rs 150 crore to develop electric versionsof two of its other vehicles, the Gio and Maxximo, as well. Speaking about the company’s plans for electric vehicles, Pawan Goenka, president of automotiveand farm equipment sectors, M&M, said, “We will be using the electric vehicle technology on some of our existing products. We are almost ready with the electric Gio and Maxximo, and we have also developed a prototype for the electric Verito.” He also added that the company has kept a fleet of 50 electric Maxximos ready, and these will be launched after assessing the response to the recently launch Mahindra e2o.

Huyndai HB20S:dont come india!!

If you have seen images of Hyundai’s HB20S saloon on the internet, and thought it would make a great addition to the company’s Indian line-up, don’t hold your breath. Hyundai has has no plans to bring the HB20S to India. Both the HB20 hatchback and HB20S saloon have been designed specifically for the South American market, where the saloon is offered with 80bhp1.0-litre and 128bhp 1.6-litre petrol engines. Considering these cars are built on an entirely different platform from the ones used for the i20 and Verna and share very few common components with them, it would be a financially unviable move for the carmaker to bring any HB20-based model here. Assembling cars from an all-new platform in India would require a huge investment. Moreover, considering that the HB20S is not a sub-four-metre saloon, if introduced here, its pricing and positioning would also clash with the Verna in Hyundai’s model range.

Chevrolet’s Sail saloon is off to a good start as the manufacturer has recorded over 7,000 bookings since the car's launch on February 1, 2013.
The tepid response to the Chevrolet U-VA late last year has led Chevrolet to revisit its pricing strategy and it has priced t
he saloon very competitively. The petrol variants are priced from Rs 4.99 – 6.41 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the diesel variants are on offer from Rs 6.29 – 7.51 lakh. The Sail saloon is powered by a 79bhp 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced diesel motor.
While styling may not be radical, the Sail saloon is quite pleasing to look at. The split grille with the bowtie emblem links the new saloon to the rest of the Chevy range.
The car looks quite smart from the rear, thanks to itsnear-vertical tail section. Available in seven colour options,the Sail saloon comes with a 3 year/1, 00,000km warranty and 5 year/50,000km warranty on the powertrain. Chevrolet has no plans to launch an automatic variant anytime soon. However, the Honda Amaze is set to launch on April 11 and could throw up some serious competition to the Chevrolet Sail and its other main competitor, the Maruti Dzire.

Volvo-india get new brand ambassador

Volvo India today announced that golfer Jeev Milkha Singh will be its brand ambassador in India. The golfer will get an XC90 as a part of his association with Volvo. He said “I am excited to be a part of the Volvo family and today I stand proud to be representing Volvo cars as its brand ambassador.”
At the event, Tomas Ernberg, managing director, Volvo Auto India, also announced that the company will be opening dealerships across the country with new ones coming up in Bangalore and Ahmedabad in the coming months. Gurgaon is on the company’s radar too and will geta dealership followed by Kolkata. The company also announced a 114 percent growth in terms of sales in the last quarter finishing March, 2013, with sales of 212 units. Ernberg also stated that Volvo remains unaffected with the hike in duties for imported cars as these are applicable to those with petrol engines over 3000cc and diesel engines above 2500cc. He said that Volvo will continue to focus on CBUs, with the V40 Cross Country joining the line-up with a launch due in June this year.It will be priced to rival the likes of BMW X1 and Audi Q3.

This German giant remains among the last of the ‘big-ticket’ manufacturers to dive into the high volumes Indian market with an earnest game plan, as KTM, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Triumph and every major Japanese bike maker have already played their cards in our important and massive market, most with grand success stories already stitched-up, or in the making. It’s an alliance with all the ingredients for grand success, there being no better prospective Indian partner for the Munich headquartered BMW Motorrad than the Hosur (outskirts of Bengaluru) based TVS Motor Co.
The partners will share a resource pool to build a new series of sub-500cc motorcycles.
The first products are expected to make it to production by around 2015. Bikes or scooters will be sold under their own brand names, that is either TVS or BMW Motorrad, through the companies' respective distribution networks.
